that big fancy atx power connection actually has a function rather than just being rediculously large. i still dont see WHY they need like 24 pins for 3 diff voltages. im counting 4.. but regardless i think my power supply is either dead or sucks, the comp was powered dc-dc for about 5 mins; then the screen went blank, since i had no net connection on it i couldnt tell if the comp was still running or not but it didnt run the way i wanted it, popped in an ac-dc PSU and it booted fine. so far im thinking the power managment controller is the problem but without all kinds of resoldering i cannot remove it :-/
the good news is that the computer works and works well, the USB audio hook-up in my car works well, and i finally properly installed my stereo. only problem being i think my ignition switch is bad. the accessory line is at 1.5V and when i send it 12 with the key out it acts like it should with the key on ACC. and with the key on it doesnt do its thing like it should. i blame a shitty car installation guy. now i know to do it myself next time.
