thanks dell

well i finally got my new rackmount server, my experiences with dell decline every time i try and order something from them. the only time im happy is when i order something with an email coupn that takes like 25% off. even my account rep can’t beat that price. oh so the point of the post.

i opened up the guides to figure out what the little blinking blue light meant while i was building the RAID array. and BEHOLD!!! direction on how to install your new rackmount server. so i skim through it, plug power here, plug keyboard here, plug … the most complicated thing in this manual was regarding the installation of the bezel. seriously, if you don’t know how or where to plug in the monitor or mouse, you really shouldn’t be touching a rackmount server, let alone be allowed to go into a room or near a rack full of these things, which is presumably where most people install them.
this is a rather specialized peice of hardware, i can’t beleive they still cater to their moron clientel that can’t guess by the COLOR CODING. maybe they should put useful things in there like, what the damned blinking blue thingy is, as that is way more interesting.
also they should have warnings on it “may sound like jet engine when turned on, wear ear protection”
