MOVE THE F OVER!!!

Sen. Mike Bennett has a word of warning for Florida’s road hogs — get out of the passing lane, or give up your driver’s license.

I love it.

thats the most retarded bill i have ever seen. thats like fining gun dealers because the buyer decides to go on a shooting spree out of nowhere. if you are going the speed limit or over, you shouldnt have to move lanes…im usually around 85 on I-4- if someone jack ass wants to go ape shit- thats his problem, not mine. Typical lawmakers- lets hurt go after the innocents because we cant find the guilty people…

  2. 2 kyle

no, actually there is rational behind this. like you said, if he wants to go ape shit - it IS your problem because it incites road rage and gets people hurt.
if some moron 85 year old is taking up the passin lane, it just pisses everyone of, i know i speed by people just cuz i was tired of waiting behind them. if i didnt have to sit behind people, i prolly wouldnt speed.

  3. 3 evan

no, the rational there is still wrong, blaming the wrong people for the actions. its like if i say a bunch of things to piss someone off and they come shoot me…the law would find me responsible because that person just couldnt control themselves? they’re blaming the wrong people for doing something…if you want to have ‘road rage’ because of not getting someplace 5 minutes faster, you need counseling, and should get pulled over for weaving. I know that if im going like 85 or 90 in the passing lane, i stay in it because im actually going faster than most everyone else in the other lane, so im constantly passing them. It’s actually MORE dangerous for me to go 85, switch to the right lane to wait till another car is there, then go back to passing lane, then switch to other lane. Changing lanes is actually the dangerous part of driving anyway. Yeah, people shouldnt be going like 60 in that lane, but if they do, its not hard to pass them and go around…if you cant control your temper thats your own damn fault.

MAJOR KUDOS to Senator Bennett. The correct rationale that you should all be focusing on is - NOT the speed limit - but - the RULES and laws of driving. If you are NOT PASSING - you don’t have any right to be traveling in the PASSING LANE - whether someone is behind you or not. Move your dead ass over into the travel lanes when you are done passing. That little lever sticking out of the left side of the steering wheel column is not for hanging your spare keys or bracelets - it’s to signal your intentions - USE IT. These simple concepts which people don’t seem to get will go a long way to unclog the roads.

  5. 5 kyle

yeah, the rules are simple, if you aren’t passing someone - move over. you cant sit in the passing lane just becuase you are going the speed limit or over. there is no reason to. and if your car is such a peice of crap that it cant change lanes at 85mph, you shouldnt be going that fast.

  6. 6 evan

its more dangerous to be switching lanes back and forth than to be sitting in one lane.

if some idiot wants to pass me at 100mph, and wants to get out of the car and fight me because they think im not grossly exceeding the speed limit enough for your tastes- bring it, i’ll be happy to oblige..

  7. 7 kyle

but like you said, the higher the speed, the higher the danger, he is going faster, YOU should move.

  8. 8 evan

yes lets all yield and make laws for people who want to drive like idiots- let THEM control the road. that makes sense.

  9. 9 engleweed

The concept is simple - when you get done passing move over into the travel lane - what is so difficult about that. The idiots that Evan is talking about, are those still in the left lane not passing anyone - holding up traffic. It’s obvious to see that Evan never took drivers ed, or if he did he doesn’t remember what he was taught. Time for a refresher??? I have a better idea - let’s send him over to Germany to drive the autobahn and see how long he lasts . . . toast

  10. 10 evan

i think holding up traffic would be travelling under the speed limit or not with/faster the speed of traffic. In which case I would agree with you, they should move. However, if you are going 85 in a 70 or 75 or even 65 as I-4 can be, you have no obligation to move out of the way for someone like, say Kyle, who for reasons unknown has to get past you and to his apartment at the speed of light. I forgot how driver’s ed referred to the passing lane as ‘Kyle Fiducia and other idiot’s lane.’ How bout instead of the non-dangerous road, not a road-hungry asshole going to Germany, we send you instead and see how long your Golf lasts?

  11. 11 kyle

im down, you’re buying? the golf would make it. might need some washer nozzle LEDs before i go though. and FYI, i don’t share my lane with other idiots willingly.

  12. 12 evan

ask kris, im sure she’ll take you to the continent

  13. 13 engleweed

Not only do you have an obligation to move over ITS THE LAW. Try reading what you should already know . . . http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us/handbooks/English/english_handbook.pdf

  14. 14 evan

yes but you cant get pulled over for it and ticketed the same as say, passing at 110…as your son tends to do.

  15. 15 engleweed

your wrong - I checked with Spencer - you can get pulled over and be ticketed for it - it’s section 316.08 of the FL statues - they just have not enforced it to date - but with any luck that will change with this new proposed legislation

  16. 16 Spence

Ok, since I was dragged into this….If you are in the left lane….move the hell out of the way ( http://www.fhp.state.fl.us/misc/images/LeftLane.jpg ) It is actually the law and it does actually piss everyone off. It isn’t more dangerous to change lanes, if it was then why the hell did you change lanes to get there in the first place….that’s a pretty lame answer. Speaking of Germany…..did you know that on the German Autobahn and the Italian Autostrada that if you hang out in the left lane they are going to wack you right in the kiester….and you’ll have to pay for it. Cause it’s your fault. Here…$112.50 (Orlando that is). There is just so many other things going on, it’s kinda dumb to write it, but I must say, I have, and they deserved it. (45 in the left lane…huh, not on my watch). And 1 last thing…it’s also the same lane that every emergency vehicle uses to get to an emergency. So remember the next time your there in the left lane….it could be your loved one….[Sorry, some jerk was in the left lane and wouldn’t move over….] You’ll never know the feeling of running 130+mph with lights and siren going down the interstate and coming up to an overpass. As you go over the top there is some jerk off going 65 in the left lane with no other car in sight for miles. Thank God for ABS Brakes!

I think everyone should be required to drive in Germany for at least one month for drivers ed. I also like their driving laws - get stopped for OUI - the police just tear up your license on the spot and you are done - FOREVER.

Generally, I like to disagree with everything any politician has ever said

    BUT

evan, if you can’t change lanes without getting into an accident, then please STAY at home. You don’t know how to drive! The crazy thing about driving is that sometimes (read frequently) you have to check your blind spots, use your mirrors and change lanes SAFELY. What a concept, you should try it sometime (say for example, to move out of the PASSING lane). You sitting in the fast lane because you are travelling PLENTY fast enough, darn it, is way more dangerous than you just getting out of the passing lane, SAFELY, after completing a pass. Don’t forget your blind spot…

The safest roads ARE the highways because you don’t have to deal with oncoming traffic (save for the occasional blue hair driving up the off ramp) or any intersections. All traffic flows in one direction, just faster than the other roads. This is the perfect opportunity for you and all the drivers like you to practice your lane changing.

Don’t drive in the passing lane. If someone wants to drive faster than you, don’t worry about it. I am sure some people will be going faster than you, just like some people are going slower than you. You are not a pace car for the entire highway, you are just another jerk in the way.

I wish the police would enfore all the rules of the road, rather than just some specific rules to help them meet quotas or whatever. yes, speeding and tailgaiting etc… should be enforced, but evan should also get busted for sitting in the passing lane because he is scared to change lanes.
