why i <3 america.

as much as i gripe about the sad state of affairs in this country - our sacred civil liberties being stripped of us, the welfare state, the popularity of mass-opiates (read: tv), people not questioning authority, lack of education, ambition, values, responsibility, the list grows - this is the best country in the world to live in. if any of you have ever gone over seas for an extended period of time, you can appreciate this - getting back on to american soil is possibly the most liberating experience you may ever have. what brings this up is customer service. thats right - like when you call dell (or other companies that out-source customer service) and you get sent out to india, or the Philippines, or any other BFE, and it takes 45 minutes of aggravation and frustration to get a simple thing accomplished. then you call a company whose customer service is located in somewhere like South Texas (American Express in this instance), and your request is quickly moved along by someone who you can understand, relate to, enjoy speaking with and can get it done in less time than you expect. You also dont have to listen to the “Okay, I understand that you would like help with what you called to get help with and I can help you with that, may i put you on hold so i can help you with that request that you called to get help with this evening Mr Fiducia?” uhhh… if you must .. “Okay thank you Mr Fiducia I understand you would like help with what you called to get help with and i can help you with that, and i will now place you on hold so i can help you with that which you called to get help with, I appreciate you holding Mr Sir err Fiducia Sir err Thank you I appre…” OMG JUST PUT ME ON HOLD AND DO IT! - I swear I am going to record my conversations one day just to show how different it is. So for all those companies that use American based customer service, I thank you. And all the others, expect me to be closing my accounts.

Although I agree with you, American Express has particularly excellent customer service. Even for an american based support staff.

GEICO rocks, too. Well, the women are always extra nice. The guys are kinda boring.

Anyway, if you ever want to be proud of America, just go to England. I am SO glad our stuffy, prudish, religious fanatic shipped disease, genocide, and pollution over here way back in the when. Why am I so happy? Because in America’s relatively short history, we have managed to completely kick Britain’s ass at pretty much everything, including: Food, plumbing, the English language, hygiene, entertainment, and hotties. Take that, queenie!
