unfortunately i didn’t plan on such a spectacle, but after seeing some smoke and hearing some explosions, followed by sirens, followed by the garage door not working, we took a ride to see what was going on with the power. turns out the sub-station caught fire. it was pretty cool to see, but definitely reminded the surrounding neighborhoods of what was to come in the next few months; power outages.

my new 1000W UPS (for a total of 2200W of protection) kicked in and worked like a champ, not that I was home to see. rain, power outages, and generator sounds, this is going to be another interesting summer.
