I can’t possibly say enough about this program, I bought it after about 10 minutes of use. It is like spotlight, but way faster and does more.
Here is a little snippet of what you can do…
Say you were working on a document names “projections.doc” and you wanted to email it a coworker - Here is what you could do. Apple-Space to activate LaunchBar (or whatever you set it to) type the first few letter of your document name until “projections.doc” is highlighted as a top hit, then hit tab, then start typing “Mail” and hit enter. It will open up Mail, create a new message and add your document as an attachment.
This one is free, its a global notification system you can use in almost any good application.
Make sure you add a notification of new IMs in Adium so you don’t have to switch applications to see what the IM said and who it was from.
This image shows a Safari notification that the file i downloaded was downloaded and was mounting, in a nice little unobtrusive alert.
Some people like Adium because of the advanced features like tabbed browsing. I love it because of the integrations with growl, check it out. I still like iChat though…
Powerful Text Editor
Collaborative Text Editor
Makes blogging fast and easy, works with many popular blogging systems. The text editing is buggy as hell, but use it for every day stuff and you are fine. Don’t try and write your term paper in it.
Global iTunes control, one of many, and there are free ones out there, but this works well and has some great features. Allows global hotkeys to advance iTunes and more. I have mine set so hitting both mouse-buttons at once is like “Next Track”handy for stealthily switching off Kelly Clarkson when people walk by…



Does Ecto handle all the image posting? I’ve noticed with the few content managment systems i’ve dabbled with that inserting images is a fairly tremendous feat.

Yes. Just drag and drop images into ecto, it handles thumbnailing, uploading, resizing, and all the coding.
I knew that
