internet connectivity
Published by kyle October 5th, 2005 in Newsbackground info: this morning i groggily tried to check out my email - 3 of my 5 email accounts were offline, i was still half asleep so i took no notice, they do that sometimes… so when i got back and found not only were those email account offline, the sites associated with them were down too. so i started calling my hosting provider (not this server mind you - good work george!) and it wasn’t my ISP, i logged into my mac mini at the datacenter (right on a backbone) and confirmed the sites were up. i called verizon as they were easier to find a phone number for than road runner (both ISPs were having trouble with this IP range).
So here is about how the conversation went:
verizon rep: Hello this is Will how can I help you. me: well it seems there are some connectivity issues on your network. i gave him the ip address and had him traceroute will:yeah it seems thats down, we’ll have to call Al Gore to fix it.
a few minutes of him checking stuff and typing…
will: well all i can do it log it, i can’t really do anything. kyle: don’t you have Al Gore’s phone number? will: no, i used to have it, but his wife got mad.
pause…..
will: i don’t know what i meant by that.
