i’ve been scouring the intarwebs looking for some decent information on maildrop/ingo/qmail systems for server-side rule based filtering, well, i haven’t quite found it yet, but i have found a bit heat over the issue of mail servers using white-listing and black-listing. which some people have perverted into some sort of racial issue. i was quite happy to see the developers flat out say ‘gfy.’

I have been driving my bike on a temporary permit now for about 6 months, my permit is up for renewal again next week and i decided that i have learned to ride the bike well enough to probably pass fairly easily. Only problem being the exam is only given one day a week at 7AM. We all know 7AM and I rarely meet. So i actually got up and went. Now running on 3 hours of sleep I get there to find out they cancelled for the day as the track was ‘wet.’ I mean, don’t roads get wet? So I went on with my day trying to be productive since I was up early anyway, I also planned to get my haircut. I said, do something different for a change. Little did i know that my sleep deprived brain was also running low on good judgement. I think sleep deprivation is a lot like drinking alcohol. The first thing to go is your judgment. I walked out glad I had a helmet to cover up my head, and hoping maybe by the time I got home it would be gone.

So just like we try and not go to the grocery store hungry, I’m also making sure not to get my haircut without proper sleep.

well, i have been working on various projects lately. from the 67 project to the businesses to the server. trusty heron got some upgrades. and what would a server project be without max fouling it somehow. just 2 days after install (barely) max has already seemed to balloon his account to over a GB of space. i dont know how.

upgrades consist of a control panel software called interworx, which allows clustering, management, chroot jails (YAY), real-time stats for all account, and can even do billing with an add-on. overall, really neat stuff for management. now i need another server for a secondary MX and NS server. Im thinking california. max is looking to buy a NFS server for us (not really).

the nice folks in the engineering department set up some sort of casino night tonight. it was actually really enjoyable to study in the atrium and have free food (good food) and hang out with some friends from classes or make new ones.

theatre survey. i would expect it to be, by far, my most boring class. the one i could blow off and not pay attention. do work on my laptop as the instructor babbles on about this or that. Not so.

general education requirements dictate i take this class, usually anything dictated and i don’t get along. little did i expect this would be my most enjoyable class. look at it this way. coming out of classes like digital signal processing, thermodynamics, and electronics II, where the paucity of any sort of eye candy is actually depressing, its nice to have something to look at when the thing at the front is babbling.

i think the true gems come when you are actually actively paying attention though. not to the instructor however, she just pisses me off with how contradictory and shallow she is in thought, but the other students. anyway.

the instructor was having some student do some acting, and the point was to show authority or look tough. they had pitched this tall thing black guy against a chubby white girl. so the guy crossed his arms and scowls at the girl, the girl returns with a sassy stance, then from the back of the room i hear “GIVE ‘ER THA GRILL!!”

i think i peed myself just a little. this kid had a nice grill too. prolly at least a carat.

tonight, we went to the library and as we were leaving josh, my buddy in comupter engineering, asked some really really hot girl to dance, “hey hot girl, will you dance with me? i haven’t danced with a single girl all night..” conversation, conversation…. hot girl:”so whats your major”‘ josh: “uhhh, what kind of guy walks up at the end of the night and tell you he hasn’t danced with a single girl all night?” hot girl: ” engineer?” josh: “computer.”
